The Student Experience

  • House System

Summit has four Houses: Moses, Daniel, Jonathan and Elijah. Students become members of Houses in Kindergarten and remain in Houses until they graduate. The goal of the House System is to foster a sense of belonging, camaraderie, team-work, good sportsmanship, and leadership among students. The Houses are student-led and provide an opportunity for students to hone their leadership skills. They also provide an avenue for students to interact across grade levels. Middle/Upper School students meet in Houses weekly to pray together, and make plans for student competitions and service projects. Houses compete against each other in academic and sports competitions throughout the year.

  • Morning Assembly/Chapel

We start the day together as an entire student body, faculty and staff in the church sanctuary. We sing, pray and read the Bible together every morning. Once a week, we split the students into Lower and Middle/Upper School to have an age-appropriate Chapel.

  • Boys’ and Girls’ Bible Study

Summit is blessed to have two local youth pastors, who come in monthly to lead gender-specific Bible studies for the 6-12th grade students. We also encourage student-led lunch Bible studies that occur organically as the students feel led. These studies are in addition to the study and integration of the Bible that occurs in the classroom.

  • Athletics

The Summit Archers started high school sports within the WIAA in 2022. We currently offer Cross Country, Basketball, Golf, and Tennis for both boys and girls in 8th-12th grades. We compete in the SeaTac 1B League. The vision of Summit athletics is to be joyful disciples competing as lights in the world to the glory of God. See our Athletics page for more info.

  • Academic & College Advising

Every morning, students have Advisory Period a time devoted to checking in with teachers on planner organization, assignment due dates, etc. The Academic Dean checks grades weekly, partners with teachers, and meets with students to develop strategies to achieve academic success. Students are also supported during the college application process by the Dean.

  • Community Service

Upper School students are required to serve others for 100 hours during their 9-12th grade years. As Christians, we are called to serve others and we practice what we preach by serving as a school community.

  • Choir

The Summit Choir sings regularly during Morning Assembly, performs for parents throughout the year (including the Christmas Cantata), travels to local Senior Centers to bless the elderly, attends Choir Festivals, and enjoys performances at Seattle Theaters extracurricularly.

  • Drama

Our students love to act! Summit has a strong Drama program that continues to grow every year. “Drama is the experiential, or poetic, mode of rhetoric!” Essential Theater by B Henderson.

  • Senior Tour

In the 12th grade, students will go on a 10-day trip to Europe. Seniors have the opportunity to go to Italy and Greece or England and France. This is a trip of a lifetime that makes the students’ education come alive!

  • Middle/Upper School Retreat

At the beginning of the school year, we go to Sambica for 2 days to kick off the start to the year. We spend most of that time playing together, forming and building relationships. We also kick off discussions surrounding the theme of the year, attend Chapel, pray and sing together. It is a great way to break the ice at the beginning of the year!
