Embracing the Fresh Start of a School Year

Written By Jacy Armbruster

As we stand on the threshold of a new school year, my heart is filled with excitement and anticipation. Every school year brings with it the freshness of new opportunities, new friendships, new learnings, and, above all, the chance to grow closer to God. As a staff we are gearing up to provide and encourage an environment of new opportunities of growing in wisdom and closeness to our Savior.

This year is no different, and yet it feels exceptional in the boundless possibilities it presents. We have all been through challenges, but as we embark on this new journey, let us carry with us the wisdom and hope of 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” A new school year brings with it the newness and fresh start that reminds us of our salvation and looks forward to what God is going to do in our lives this year. No matter what your summer held, whether it was full of joy or sorrow, a new and great start is ahead of you this school year.

A Time for Renewal

The beginning of the school year offers us a unique moment to renew our commitment to our faith, to our studies, and to each other. We are reminded of the words of Lamentations 3:22-23: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Let us approach each day of this new school year with the energy and enthusiasm of a new morning, filled with God's mercy and love.

Embracing New Relationships

In this nurturing environment, we are blessed with the opportunity to form friendships that will last a lifetime. Proverbs 27:17 tells us, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Together, we will strengthen each other's faith, character, and intellect. Let us encourage and support one another as we discover our unique paths and purposes. God is doing a great work in all of you, seek friendships that will encourage your own growth, while giving you opportunity to pour into others lives as well.

Cultivating Academic Excellence

At our school, academic excellence goes hand in hand with spiritual growth. Our talented teachers are not only dedicated to providing a top-notch education but also committed to fostering a Christ-centered learning experience. This provides you with the opportunity to gain knowledge in an environment that exalts Christ, which should foster in you a sweet humility in spirit. So let us embrace our studies with confidence and determination, knowing that our efforts are not in vain.

A Fresh Start

As your Dean of Students, I am here to support you in this exciting new beginning. Together, let us remember Ephesians 4:22-24: "Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” I look forward to seeing you all soon and to witnessing the beautiful ways in which God will work in our lives this year.

With blessings and joy for the new school year,
